Tsunami Evacuation Maps for Gisborne and coastal areas can be found online at www.gdc.govt.nz/tsunami-evacuation-maps  Gisborne's harbour, the industrial subdivision and low-lying properties are some of the areas included in the tsunami evacuation zone.  The Gisborne city tsunami map spans across the district along the railway line, Anzac St, Kaihutia St and Childers Rd until the Turanganui River.  Kaiti Beach properties are also on the map.  Civil Defence advises people to prepare emergency survival items.  Equipment suggested include a touch with spare batteries, a batter-operated radio, wind and waterproof clothing, first aid kit, food and water to last at least three days.  They also advise for people to create a getaway kit that is easily accessible at home and work, and this kit should include similar items.  a full checklist is available at: www.getthru.govt.nz
